Thunder gridders defeat North Park 56-14 (Boxscore)

Wheaton, Ill. The Wheaton Thunder football team, ranked 13th in this week's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Top 25, was a 56-14 victor over North Park University at McCully Field on Saturday afternoon. Wheaton is now 8-1 on the season and 5-1 in the CCIW, while North Park falls to 1-7 overall and 1-5 in the CCIW.

Wheaton will conclude the regular season next Saturday at Augustana (7-2/5-1 CCIW). Wheaton needs a victory over the Vikings to earn at least a share of its third consecutive CCIW Championship. If Wheaton wins next Saturday it would be assured of at least a tie with Carthage for the conference championship. The winner of the Wheaton-Augustana game will have a 6-1 league record and if Carthage (8-1/5-1 CCIW) wins at home against Elmhurst next Saturday the Redmen will tie the Wheaton-Augustana winner for the CCIW Championship. If Carthage loses to Elmhurst the Wheaton-Augustana winner will win the CCIW outright. If two teams are tied for the CCIW Championship a tiebreaker will be used to determine the recipient of the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
