John Diggs named to D3Football.com "Team of the Week"

Wheaton,

Ill. - Wheaton College (Ill.) senior John Diggs (San Antonio,

Texas/Alamo Heights) has been selected to this week's D3Football.com

"Team of the Week". Each week the website selects players at every position

from across Division III football who had standout games and honors them with

a spot on the "Team of the Week". Diggs earned his honor for his contribution

in Wheaton's 36-6 win over Carthage last Saturday to give the Thunder a 5-1

record, a 3-0 conference record and a share of first place in the College

Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

Diggs, the Thunder starter at left defensive tackle, made eight

total tackles with 2 tackles for lost yardage (-7 yards). Diggs and the

Thunder defense held Carthage's Randal Baker, who entered the game as the

leading rusher in Division III, to 96 yards on 26 carries for his first sub-100

yard rushing game of the season.

For the season Diggs has 25 total tackles with 6 tackles for

lost yardage (-22 yards) and 2 quarterback sacks for -12 yards. He has started

every game this season for a Thunder defense that is ranked 21st in Division

III in total defense, holding opponent to 240.7 yards per game. Wheaton is

28th in scoring defense as foes have only scored 14.3 points a game on the

squad this year.
