Knapp sets record in USA win at the Aztec Bowl
LEFT: Senior linebacker Justin Knapp, pictured alongside Thunder
head coach Mike Swider, has been named to the roster of the 42-man USA Team
for this Saturday's Aztec Bowl in Torreon, Mexico.
Torreon, Mexico (12/15) - Wheaton senior
Justin Knapp made a big impact on Saturday in a 15-9 win by USA over Mexico
in the Aztec Bowl. The Aztec Bowl features an All-Star team of Mexican collegiate
players against a Division III All-Star Team, picked by the American Football
Coaches Association. Saturday's game was played in front of a sellout crowd
of 6,000 at Estadio Infierno Azul in Torreon and was the sixth meeting between
the Division III squad and the Mexican team.
Knapp, the 2002 CCIW "Defensive Player of the Year" led the
United States team with 10 tackles in the game including eight solo tackles.
The solid effort by the Wheaton team tri-captain set a Team USA record for
total tackles in a game from the six meetings in the series.
