Wheaton Loses to St. Viator's

Captain Meebold Out for Season

L Wheaton 0-8 St. Viator's

Wheaton received the kick-off and the attack opened up some wide holes in the right half of their line. But on their thirty yard line they plugged the holes and started shooting some end runs and flunky crisscrosses that gained ground fast. Then they blocked a punt and scored a safety. Half way thru the second quarter Capt. Meebold was taken out with a hurt ankle and the second half proved what a loss he was. During the third quarter they scored their one and only touchdown on a long forward pass from the shiftiest spread formation of gridiron tactics. The fourth quarter was one dogged fight on or about Wheaton's thirty yard line, but that line held with the guards hugging the ground and the tackles and ends coming in hard and fast from the side. Final score at last whistle was 8—0 in favor of St. Viators. There was very little slugging and dirty work but hard football there was more than enough. The line was hitting hard and low right about their shoestrings, and the ends coming in hard. The Viators casualty list was a record, eight replacements being made for injuries.
