Corey Kennedy earns selection to the D3football.com Team of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton senior safety Corey Kennedy earned selection to this week's D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 79-0 victory against Elmhurst.

Kennedy forced an Elmhurst fumble on the first offensive play of the game, recovered the fumble and returned it 27 yards for a touchdown to give Wheaton a 7-0 lead. The senior's touchdown occurred just 37 seconds into the game. Midway through the second quarter he intercepted an Elmhurst pass and returned it 62 yards, untouched, for a touchdown. His second touchdown gave Wheaton a 44-0 lead with 7:26 remaining in the first half. Kennedy was among eight different Wheaton players to score a touchdown in Wheaton's highest scoring game since 1959.

Kennedy registered 33 total tackles this season, including 21 solo stops. He recorded three interceptions, with 177 return yards. The senior made nine pass deflections and recovered three fumbles. His three defensive touchdowns this year led the Wheaton defense.Print Friendly Version
