Griffin Bowes is named the CCIW's Special Teams Player of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. - Junior placekicker Griffin Bowes was named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Special Teams Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday morning. Today's selection marks Bowes' first career recognition as a CCIW Player of the Week. He is the third Wheaton player to earn CCIW Player of the Week recognition this season, joining Patrick O'Connell (defense) and Curtis McWilliams (offense).

Bowes converted two field goals and scored 12 points last Saturday in helping Wheaton to a 48-3 victory at Carthage. His first field goal was a 33-yard kick, tying his season-long effort, with 2:31 remaining in the second quarter to give Wheaton a 17-3 lead. Bowes added a 32-yard field goal with 7:58 remaining in the third quarter that extended Wheaton's lead to 34-3. The junior was also 6-of-6 on his PAT attempts in Kenosha.

Bowes has made six of his seven field goal attempts this year, converting 85.7 percent of his kicks.

Wheaton closes out the regular season on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. as Elmhurst visits McCully Stadium.Print Friendly Version
