The CCIW releases four preseason coaches' polls for fall sports

Wheaton, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) has released coaches' polls for four of the league's fall sports this week, with Wheaton being well-represented. The Thunder women's soccer team was picked first in its poll, Wheaton football was selected second, Wheaton men's soccer is third in its poll and the Thunder volleyball team was selected ninth in its respective poll.

CCIW WOMEN'S SOCCER POLL

Wheaton, the defending CCIW Champion in women's soccer was picked to finish first in the coaches' poll with 63 points and seven first-place votes. Illinois Wesleyan tallied 54 points with one first-place vote to finish second in the poll. Carroll tallied 51 points with one first-place vote in third place, and Elmhurst finished fourth in the poll with 38 points. North Central tallied 33 points in fifth place. Augustana was was selected sixth with 32 points, Carthage was seventh with 30 points, Millikin picked up 13 points in eighth place and North Park was ninth in the voting with 10 points apiece. CCIW FOOTBALL POLL

North Central finished atop the standings in the CCIW Coaches' Poll with 78 points, receiving six first-place votes. Wheaton picked up 74 points in second place, with three first-place votes. Illinois Wesleyan was third with 63 points and one first-place vote. Carthage tallied 55 points in fourth place, Millikin was fifth with 52 points and league newcomer Washington University-St. Louis was sixth with 41 points. Elmhurst tallied 30 points in seventh place, Augustana was eighth with 26 points, North Park picked up 17 points in ninth place and Carroll was 10th with 14 points. LINK TO THE OFFICIAL CCIW RELEASE

CCIW MEN'S SOCCER POLL

Wheaton was picked to finish second in the coaches' preseason poll for men's soccer. North Park received 62 points and seven first-place votes as it was picked first in the men's soccer preseason poll. Carthage was tabbed to finish second with 55 points and two first-place votes, Wheaton got 48 points for third place. Illinois Wesleyan received 45 points in fourth place, North Central finished fifth in voting with 36 points, Elmhurst was sixth with 31 points, Millikin registered 24 points in seventh place, Carroll finished eighth in the voting with 12 points and Augustana was ninth with 11 points. CCIW VOLLEYBALL POLL

Illinois Wesleyan was selected as the league favorite in the preseason volleyball coaches poll with 61 points and five first-place votes, Carthage was second with 60 points and four first-place votes, Elmhurst was tabbed third with 47 points. Augustana finished fourth in the voting with 44 points, North Central received 29 points in sixth fifth place, North Park was picked seventh with 24 points, Carroll was tabbed to finish eighth with 15 points and Wheaton received 12 points in ninth place. Voting for each sport is done by that sport's respective head coaches from each school. Each coach votes for the eight other schools in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (seven points for first, six for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own teams.Print Friendly Version
