Stefan Knoerr named the CCIW Special Teams Player of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. - Senior kicker Stefan Knoerr was named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Special Teams Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This is Knoerr's third career Player of the Week selection and the second time he has earned it this season. He also picked up the recognition on October 24, 2016 and September 5, 2017.
Knoerr finished a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts during Wheaton's 40-15 win at Elmhurst last Saturday. His first kick (23 yards) gave Wheaton its first lead at 10-8, while his next three kicks of 22, 31 and 25 yards built the Thunder lead to 19-8 with 8:04 left in the third quarter. Knoerr's four field goals made is tied for the most made in a single game in Division III this year.
Knoerr is 6-of-7 on field goal attempts this year. His six field goals for the year its tied for eighth-most in Division III through the first four weeks of the season.
Wheaton will next be in action on Saturday, when the Thunder hosts No. 19 Illinois Wesleyan for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at McCully Stadium.
