Spencer Peterson honored as CCIW Offensive Player of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. - Sophomore quarterback Spencer Peterson was named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday afternoon. The weekly honor is the first of Peterson's career. He is Wheaton's second player to earn weekly recognition from the CCIW this season and first to earn offensive honors.
Peterson set career highs with 16 carries for 141 yards and three touchdowns in #4-ranked Wheaton's 37-14 victory over previously unbeaten Carthage. Peterson gave Wheaton a 9-0 lead midway through the first quarter with a 39-yard touchdown run. He capped Wheaton's first drive of the second half with a four-yard touchdown pass to Chase White and closed his day with a pair of one-yard touchdown runs in the fourth quarter. Peterson finished the day, leading a Wheaton rushing attack that totaled 251 yards rushing.
The Thunder signal-caller lead the Thunder with four rushing touchdowns this season and ranks third on the team with an average gain of 7.7 yards per carry. He has completed all four of his passing attempts for 48 yards and a touchdown.
Wheaton will next be in action on Saturday, when the Thunder travel to Elmhurst for a 1 pm kickoff against the Bluejays (1-2, 1-0 CCIW) at Langhorst Field.Print Friendly Version
