Andrew Bowers honored as the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. - Senior quarterback Andrew Bowers was named this week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Bowers is Wheaton's second CCIW Player of the Week honoree in the 2016 season. This is the second career Player of the Week honor for Bowers, who also earned the award on October 5, 2015.

Bowers completed 80-percent of his passing attempts last Saturday in a 48-24 victory at Illinois Wesleyan as he completed 28 of his 35 passing attempts. Bowers threw four touchdowns and he also ran for 24 yards on 10 carries. Two of his touchdowns came in the first and in the third quarter he tossed two more touchdowns to help Wheaton overcome a 24-17 halftime deficit and give the Thunder a 31-24 lead at the end of the third quarter. The senior threw for 205 of his 351 passing yards in the first half of the game.

Bowers has thrown for 949 yards this season with 10 touchdowns. The senior has completed 65.8-percent of his passing attempts (75-of114) for the year, leading the CCIW in completion percentage; and he is ranked 25th in Division III in the category.
