The CCIW releases four preseason coaches' polls; Wheaton football and men's soccer each finish first

Wheaton, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) has released coaches' polls for four of the league's fall sports, with Wheaton being well-represented in each of these polls. The Thunder football and men's soccer teams are each picked first in their respective polls. Wheaton women's soccer is second in its poll and the Thunder volleyball team was selected fifth in its respective poll.
CCIW FOOTBALL POLL
The defending CCIW Champion Thunder football team has won three of the conference's last four championships and is picked first in the 2016 preseason poll. Wheaton received 61 points and five first-place votes to finish first and North Central was second with 60 points and four first-place votes. Illinois Wesleyan earned 49 points for third place, Carthage received 41 points in fourth place, Augustana finished fifth in the voting with 39 points, North Park was sixth with 25 points, newcomer Carroll picked up 21 points in seventh place, Millikin was eighth with 15 points and Elmhurst was ninth with 13 points. CCIW MEN'S SOCCER POLL
The defending CCIW Champion Thunder men's soccer team received 62 points and six first-place votes as it was picked first in the men's soccer preseason poll. Carthage was picked second with 55 points and two first-place votes, North Park got 53 points for third place with a first-place vote, Elmhurst received 43 points in fourth place, North Central finished fifth in voting with 30 points, Carroll was sixth with 25 points, Illinois Wesleyan registered 23 points in seventh place, Augustana finished eighth in the voting with 18 points and Millikin was ninth with 15 points. CCIW WOMEN'S SOCCER POLL
Wheaton, the defending CCIW Tournament Champion in women's soccer was picked to finish second in the coaches' poll. Illinois Wesleyan tallied 61 points with five first-place votes to finish first in the poll. Wheaton tallied 59 points with three first-place votes, Augustana finished third in the poll with 48 points and a first-place vote, Carthage tallied 38 points in fourth place. Elmhurst was selected fifth with 35 points, Carroll was picked sixth with 32 points, North Central was seventh with 25 points, Millikin was eighth in the voting with 15 points and North Park finished ninth with 11 points. CCIW VOLLEYBALL POLL
Illinois Wesleyan was selected as the league favorite in the preseason volleyball coaches poll with 60 points and five first-place votes, Elmhurst was second with 53 points and two first-place votes, Carthage was tabbed third with 52 points and two first-place votes. Millikin finished fourth in the voting with 49 points, Wheaton received 34 points in fifth place, Augustana was picked sixth with 29 points, North Central was tabbed to finish seventh with 23 points, North Park tallied 14 points in eighth and Carroll received 10 points in ninth place. Voting for each sport is done by that sport's respective head coaches from each school. Each coach votes for the eight other schools in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (seven points for first, six for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own teams.Print Friendly Version
