Nine members of the Wheaton football team earn All-North Region recognition from D3football.com

Wheaton, Ill. – D3football.com announced its 2015 All-North Region Team on Monday evening and the Wheaton College football program was well-represented on the squad. Nine members of the Thunder earned All-Region recognition, tied for the second-highest total of any squad; just behind Mount Union's 12 honorees. Wheaton's nine All-Region selections are the most the program has ever earned in a single season since the website began its All-Region awards in 2005.

Five Thunder players earned All-Region First Team honors with three on defense and two offensive players. First Team linebackers Mikey Swider and Adam Dansdill earn All-Region recognition at linebacker for the second consecutive season as Dansdill was a First Team honoree in 2014 and Swider was a Third Team pick last season. Safety Wes Cannonier joined the duo on the First Team this year. Dansdill led the Thunder in 2015 with 115 total tackles, including 14 tackles for lost yardage. Swider finished second on the squad with 71 tackles this year, including nine tackles for loss. Cannonier led the Thunder with six interceptions this season and 11 passes defended to go with 36 total tackles.

Two members of the Thunder offensive line were named to the All-Region First Team as tackle Matt Snebold and guard Peter Gibson each picked up honors. It is the second consecutive year that Snebold has earned All-Region recognition, following a Second Team nod in 2014. The duo was an integral part of a Wheaton offensive line that blocked for a balanced Wheaton offense that averaged 470.9 yards per game. Wheaton ran for 236.1 yards per game this season and averaged 234.8 passing yards per contest.

Junior super back Zach Lindquist earned a Second Team All-Region nod at tight end. Lindquist tied for the team lead with 37 receptions this season, averaging 14.8 yards per catch. He tallied 548 receiving yards this year with four touchdown catches.

Seniors Josh Aldrin and Logan McRae each picked up All-Region honors on the defensive line for the second consecutive year, earning Third Team recognition this season. Senior cornerback Alex Mendez joined the duo on the Third Team. McRae led the Thunder in quarterback sacks this season with 8.5 (-62 yards) and posted a team-best 18 tackles for loss (-82 yards) to go with 54 total tackles. Aldrin recorded 44 tackles on the Wheaton defensive line. Mendez registered nine pass breakups this year with three interceptions and he added 35 total tackles.
