Thunder offensive lineman Matt Snebold named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 Football Team

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College offensive tackle Matt Snebold has been named to the Academic All-District Seven Football Team, selected by CoSIDA, for Division III. Snebold was a First Team honoree and has advanced to the national Division III Academic All-America ballot. The Division III Capital One Academic All-America Men's Football Team will be announced December 1.

Snebold earned First Team Academic All-District recognition as an offensive lineman A senior Business/Economics major, he owns a 3.65 cumulative grade point average. Snebold, a team captain for the Thunder, is in his third season as a starter at tackle for the Thunder. He has been a key leader for a Wheaton program that is ranked fifth in Division III by the AFCA and 8-0 on the season. Snebold and the Thunder offense is ranked 13th in Division III in total offense at 501.4 yards per game, 18th in rushing offense with 258.4 rushing yards per game and 22nd in scoring offense with 41.1 points per game.

The Academic All-District Team is a part of the CoSIDA All-America program that honors student-athletes annually who have succeeded at the highest level in athletics and in the classroom. Members of the eight First Team Academic All-District squads in each Division advance to the national ballot, where they have the opportunity to be selected for the Academic All-America Team. Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA; a 2,000-plus member organization consisted of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

Through the years, Wheaton student-athletes have earned a total of 81 Academic All-American selections in the prestigious program. Since 2000, there have been 56 Academic All-American selections from Wheaton.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Division I, II, III, NAIA and junior colleges covering all NCAA championship sports.
