Adam Dansdill is named the CCIW's Defensive Player of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College senior Adam Dansdill has been named the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week for football, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. This is the fifth career CCIW "Player of the Week" selection for Dansdill who also earned the award on Oct. 14, 2013; Sept. 15, 2014. Nov. 17, 2014 and Sept. 14, 2015.

Dansdill's selection marks the sixth time a Wheaton student-athlete has been named the CCIW's Football Player of the Week this season. Including Dansdill's two selections, four of the six picks have been for Defensive Player of the Week.

Dansdill was a key part of Wheaton's outstanding defensive effort in last Saturday's 17-9 win at North Central. The Thunder held North Central to season lows in both total offense and points in the victory at North Central. The linebacker recorded 12 total tackles on Saturday, including seven solo stops. He made 2-1/2 tackles for loss in the game. He played a key role in helping to hold the Cardinals to 167 yards below their average for total yards as seven of his tackles were on North Central carries of three yards or less and he made a tackle for a loss of minus eight yards in the fourth quarter.

In Wheaton's seven games this season, Dansdill has recorded a team-high 66 total tackles, including 30 solo stops. He has made 7-1/2 tackles for lost yardage, with a forced fumble, three quarterback hurries and two passes broken up.

In his three-plus seasons at Wheaton, Dansdill has recorded 269 total tackles, including 138 solo tackles. He has 20.5 tackles for loss (-65 yards) in his career.

Wheaton (7-0, 4-0 CCIW) is ranked fifth in this week's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top-25 poll and eighth in this week's D3football.com Top-25 Poll. The Thunder will host Elmhurst College on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at McCully Stadium.
