Wes Cannonier named CCIW Defensive Player of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. - The Thunder defense once again was represented by the CCIW in their weekly awards. Wes Cannonier was named this week's CCIW Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Cannonier intercepted a pair of passes in Wheaton's 56-17 victory at Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Monday night. His second interception was returned 90 yards for a touchdown to wrap up a second half that saw Wheaton score 35 unanswered points. The award is the first of his career for Cannonier.
In Wheaton' three nonconference games this season, Cannonier has recorded six solo tackles but has also intercepted three passes. He picked off a pass against Adrain in Wheaton's 49-0 win over the Bulldogs last week.
Wheaton is idle this week before traveling to Chicago to take on North Park at 1 PM on October 3.Print Friendly Version
