Spencer Clark and Adam Dansdill named as All-Americans by D3football.com

Wheaton, Ill. – Two members of the 2014 CCIW Champion Thunder football team have been recognized as All-Americans by D3football.com as announced by the website on Friday evening. Senior Spencer Clark (PICTURED LEFT) picked up First Team recognition and junior Adam Dansdill was a Second Team honoree. This year's recognition marks the second time in three years that the website has honored two Wheaton student-athletes as All-Americans (Mark Hiben and Brandon Dykstra were recognized by the website in 2012). The pair helped lead Wheaton to an 11-1 record this fall as the Thunder advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs.

Tonight's honor continues an impressive fall that has been full of accolades for Clark. The First Team All-American recognition at center by D3football.com pairs with his First Team All-North Region selection from the website earlier this month. Clark, recently honored with the Rimington Award as the top center in Division III, is a three-time All-CCIW selection for the Thunder. A two-time All-North Region selection by D3football.com, Clark did not allow a sack in 2014 and allowed just one sack over the past two seasons. A four-year standout at center, Clark was an integral part of a Wheaton offensive line that allowed only 10 sacks this season on 887 plays. He anchored a Wheaton line that blocked for a balanced Wheaton offense that averaged 179.6 yards per game and 239.1 passing yards per contest.

Clark was recently honored as a First Team All-American at center by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). He is Wheaton's first offensive lineman to earn First Team recognition from D3football.com since Jesse Scott earned the recognition in 2008. Clark is the first Thunder center to be named an All-American by the website since Brian Dini in 2003.

Adam Dansdill (PICTURED RIGHT) picked up Second Team All-American recognition following a 2014 campaign that saw him named as the 2014 CCIW Defensive Player of the Year. A 2014 D3football.com All-North Region honoree, Dansdill led the Thunder with 133 total tackles this season, including 65 solo stops. The junior ranks 27th in Division III in tackles per game with an average of 11.1 per contest. He recorded a team-best 11 passes broken up and also tallied seven tackles for lost yardage (-15 yards). Dansdill led the CCIW in total tackles this season with 71 stops in conference play. Dansdill is the first Thunder linebacker to earn All-American recognition from D3football.com since Justin Knapp earned the honor in 2002.
