Five Thunder football players earn recognition from USA College Football

Wheaton, Ill. - Five members of the Wheaton football team have earned recognition from the website USA College Football when the team announced its Division III All-American squads recently. Wheaton posted an 11-1 record this season and won the 2014 CCIW Championship with a flawless 7-0 record in conference play.

Two members of the Thunder offensive line were named named to the FIrst Team as center Spencer Clark and guard Dan Barnhart were each honored by the website. The duo was an integral part of a Wheaton offensive line that allowed only 10 sacks this season on 887 plays. They anchored a Wheaton line that blocked for a balanced Wheaton offense that averaged 179.6 yards per game and 239.1 passing yards per contest.

Junior linebacker Adam Dansdill also earned First Team recognition. The 2014 CCIW Defensive Player of the Year, Dansdill led the Thunder with 133 total tackles this season, including 65 solo stops. He recorded a team-best 11 passes broken up and also tallied seven tackles for lost yardage (-15 yards). Dansdill led the CCIW in total tackles this season with 71 stops in conference play.

Senior cornerback Michael Risher (LEFT) earned Third Team honors. Risher led the Thunder with five interceptions this season. He recorded 40 total tackles, including 32 solo hits and added eight pass break-ups. Senior defensive end Jared Todd (PICTURED RIGHT) was an honorable mention recognition with seven sacks (-41 yards) on the year as part of 11-1/2 tackles for loss (-54 yards). Todd recorded 42 total tackles this season, including 19 solo tackles.
