Spencer Clark named an AFCA Division III All-American

Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton College senior Spencer Clark has been recognized as an All-American by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), as announced by the coaching organization on Wednesday morning.

Clark is a three-year starter at center for the Thunder, performing at a high level for the Thunder in his four-year career. A three-time All-CCIW selection on the offensive line, Clark did not allow a sack this season. The senior led a Thunder line that allowed just 10 sacks on 887 plays this year, ranking 17th in Division III in sacks allowed

Earlier this week Clark was named to the D3football.com All-North Region First Team for the second time in his career. He was an integral part of a Wheaton offensive line that blocked for a balanced Wheaton offense that averaged 179.6 rushing yards per game and 239.1 passing yards per contest.

There have been 13 AFCA Division III All-American selections from Wheaton through the years. Clark is the fourth offensive lineman to earn the acclaim joining: Doug Johnston (1995); James Hoxworth (2003) and Nick Biggee (2010). Wheaton's 13 selections to the AFCA Division III All-American Team since the awards began in 1972 is tied for seventh-most in the history of the program.
