Wheaton football earns several preseason honors

Wheaton, Ill. - Still two months removed from its September 6 season opener, the Wheaton football team has recently earned several preseason recogntions. The annual Division III preview published by Lindy's Magazine ranked Wheaton 13th in its preseason Top 25. Wheaton joins North Central (10th) as the only CCIW teams to appear in the rankings. Wheaton's October 25 matchup with the Cardinals at McCully Stadium is featured as one of the five national games to watch by Lindy's. Wheaton was also ranked 23rd in a preseason Top 25 poll released by The Sporting News.

In addition to the team ranking, senior Spencer Clark was named a First Team Preseason All-American at center by Lindy's. Clark joins Illinois Wesleyan first team defensive end John Worley and Millikin second team running back Sean Dunning as the three representatives of the CCIW.

Wheaton opens its 2014 campaign at McCully Stadium on September 6 at 1 PM against Coe College. The 2014 schedule also features home games against UW-Eau Claire (Sept. 20), North Park (Homecoming - Oct. 4), North Central (Oct. 25), and Illinois Wesleyan (Family Weekend - Nov. 8).
