Thunder football staff adds four new assistant coaches

Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton Thunder football program has announced the hiring of four new assistant coaches for the upcoming 2014 season. Former Thunder running back Chaz Black will be the new running backs coach, Kyle Buresh will serve as the new wide receivers coach, Chris Kane will head the tight ends and fullbacks, and Nolan Randall will assist with the linebackers. Head Coach Mike Swider notes of the four, "We are excited about the additions of Kyle, Chaz, Chris, and Nolan to our staff for the 2014 season. The most important thing is that all four of these young men have a firm grasp of what Wheaton Football is all about. They want to be here for the right reasons. That is absolutely critical for this program. Here at Wheaton it is more than just coaching football and winning games. It is about inspiring young men to someday become difference makers in our world 'For Christ and His Kingdom'. They also are good football coaches. Each of them brings unique life experiences with them which will add to their ability to inspire our athletes."

A 2007 Wheaton graduate, Chaz Black returns to his alma mater for his first season with the Thunder coaching staff. A 2006 Second Team All-Region selection at running back by D3football.com, Chaz averaged 112 rushing yards per game over the course of his career and ranks fifth on Wheaton's single season rushing list with 1,116 yards in the 2006 season. He is also NSCA: CSCS certified. Chaz has spent the last six years as a Hollywood actor and stunt man starring alongside Dennis Quaid as Jimmy Saxton in The Express and serving as a celebrity trainer and nutrionist for the cast of the show 'Strike Back' and training UFC fighter Michael Bisping.

Kyle Buresh enters his first year on staff with the Thunder after spending the last three season as an assistant coach at Midland University. In his time at Midland, he coached the wide receivers, running backs, and served as the co-offensive coordinator, mentoring six All-Great Plains Athletic Conference performers. A 2011 graduate of Franklin College, Buresh was a three-time letterwinner and three-time Academic All-HCAC honoree at defensive back. During his time at Franklin, the Grizzlies won three conference championships.

Chris Kane enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Thunder. Chris comes from Wheaton Academy where he has spent the last two years as an assistant coach. During his time at Wheaton Academy, Chris coached offensive line, defensive line, running backs, outside linebackers, and coordinated the special teams. Prior to his tenure at Wheaton Academy, Chris spent two years as the offensive and defensive line coach at South Elgin High School. Kane is a 2010 graduate of Northern Illinois.

Nolan Randall returns to the Thunder after graduating from Wheaton in 2014 with a degree in Psychology. Randall was a three-year starter on the offensive line for the Thunder, earning Second Team All-CCIW honors as a sophomore. Randall helped front an offense that averaged close to 400 yards per game each game throughout his career. Randall will assist with the linebackers in his first year on the Thunder coaching staff.
