Jordan Langs named the defensive coordinator for the Wheaton football program

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College football coach Mike Swider has announced the hiring of Jordan Langs as the defensive coordinator for the Thunder football team. Langs replaces Rod Sandberg, who departed in December to become the head coach at Whitworth University.

Langs has served the past two seasons as Wheaton's safeties coach. Prior to his tenure on the coaching staff at his alma mater, Langs was a standout three-year starter at safety and linebacker for the Thunder football team from 2008-11. He started 32 career games at Wheaton, while tallying 133 career tackles along with eight interceptions. He was twice named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Wheaton in History/Social Science in 2011.

Swider says of Langs, "It is always exciting to hire former players. I think our former players have an appreciation for Wheaton that is really distinctive. He has experienced Wheaton firsthand and has seen the institution and the program from a player's perspective." Swider continues, "Obviously he has also coached with us for two years and has worked side-by-side with me in the secondary. The maturation that Jordan demonstrated to me in those two years was off the charts. Additionally, he is from a coaching family. He played high school football for his dad in Michigan and has coaching in his blood." Swider concludes, "Our players love him. Jordan is a players' coach; his door is always open to them and they appreciate him as a coach. Jordan's X's and O's are tremendous and he has picked up on so many things so quickly that I know he is ready for this opportunity."Print Friendly Version
