Thunder football team places eight student-athletes on the All-CCIW Football Team

Wheaton, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its All-Conference football team on Tuesday, with eight members of the Wheaton College football team earning selections. Wheaton players earned five First Team honors with three Thunder honorees on the Second Team. Six of Wheaton's All-Conference selections were on the defensive side of the ball, with two on offense. Wheaton posted an 8-2 record this season with a 5-2 mark in conference play.

Left tackle Nolan Randall and center Spencer Clark (PICTURED LEFT) each earned First Team All-Conference honors on the offensive line. Clark, a junior, earned First Team All-CCIW recognition for the second consecutive season. Randall and Clark keyed a Wheaton offensive line that allowed Wheaton to average 38.3 points per game and 431 yards per game. The Thunder tallied 212.9 yards per game on the ground this season, with 218.1 passing yards.

A trio of Thunder linebackers earned All-CCIW recognition as senior Brett Anderson (PICTURED RIGHT) and sophomore Adam Dansdill (PICTURED LEFT) each earned First Team recognition and senior Jordan Higgins garnered a Second Team nod. Anderson, a team captain, recorded 56 solo tackles this season, with 33 solo stops. He registered four tackles for lost yardage (-22 yards), with a pair of interceptions and five passes broken-up. In conference play Anderson tallied 48 tackles, including 30 solos. Dansdill led the Wheaton defense with 57 total tackles this fall, with 35 solo stops. He recorded six tackles for loss (-16 yards), with two sacks (-16 yards) and five quarterback hurries. Dansdill led the Thunder defense in tackles during conference play with 50 total tackles and six tackles for loss (-30 yards). Higgins was third on the team with 50 total tackles, including five tackles for lost yardage (-14 yards). In conference action he registered 40 tackles for the Thunder defense.

Cornerback Jackson Edwards (PICTURED RIGHT) earned First Team All-CCIW recognition for his strong senior season. Edwards tallied 27 tackles this season, including 19 solo stops. In conference action Edwards recorded 19 tackles, including three for lost yardage (-9 yards).

Defensive linemen Brandon Dykstra and Jared Todd each earned Second Team All-CCIW honors. This is the third consecutive season that Dykstra has earned All-Conference recognition. Dykstra tallied 24 total tackles this fall, including 17 in CCIW contests. Todd led the Thunder with five quarterback sacks this fall. He recorded 30 total tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss (-38 yards). In conference action Todd tallied 22 tackles, with two sacks. (-14 yards). Print Friendly Version
