Jesse Peterson to play in National Bowl

Wheaton, Ill.- Wheaton senior Jesse Peterson will participate in the 2012 National Bowl to be played on December 9 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The National Bowl brings together to top senior talent from around the country to be coached by professional coaching staffs. The National Bowl. Sunday's game kickoff will be at 1 PM (EST) at J. Birney Crum Stadium and a video broadcast of the game will be available online the Sunday following the game.

Peterson was a second-team All-CCIW honoree this season and was an instrumental part of a Thunder offense that averaged 478.2 yards of offense per game, with 315.5 passing yards per game and 162.7 rushing yards a game. Wheaton finished the regular season ranked 17th in Division III in total offense (478.2 YPG), 16th in the nation in passing offense (315.5 YPG) and 13th in scoring offense (40.0 PPG).

Other CCIW participants joining Peterson for the National Bowl and playing on the Red Nation team will be DB Doug Ivy and DB Cicero Porter, both from North Park. The Red Nation team will be coached by Mike Stock, the former Special Teams Coordinator for the Green Bay Packers. Stock was also the Special Teams Coach for the Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins and St. Louis Rams. Additionally Stock spent times as a wide receivers coach at both Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Teaming with Peterson on the Blue Nation team will be DB Robert Mago (Augustana), CB Jamall Lane (Elmhurst), RB Nick Kukuc (North Central) and LB Joey Michals (North Central). The Blue Nation team will be coached by Chris Thompson, the head coach of the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks of the Professional Indoor Football League.
