CCIW announces its fall preseason polls

Wheaton, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin has released coaches' polls for four of the league's fall sports. Wheaton is well-represented in each of these polls. The Thunder women's soccer team and men's soccer team are both picked first, the football team is picked second and the Wheaton volleyball team was selected sixth in its respective poll.
Wheaton, the defending CCIW Champion in women's soccer was picked to repeat in the coaches' poll with 49 points and seven first place votes. Augustana and Illinois Wesleyan tied for second in the poll, with 40 points each and Augustana taking one first-place vote. Elmhurst was selected fourth with 28 points, Millikin was picked fifth with 21 points, North Park was sixth with 17 points, Carthage received 15 points in seventh place and North Central was eighth with 14 points. North Park and Wheaton each received 45 points and four first-place votes in a tie for first place in the men's soccer preseason poll. Carthage was picked third with 34 points, Elmhurst and Illinois Wesleyan each got 30 points to tie for fourth place, Augustana was sixth with 19 points, North Central was seventh and Millikin eighth. North Central was picked on top of the CCIW preseason poll for football with 48 points and six first-place votes. Wheaton was second, receiving 44 points and two first-place votes, Illinois Wesleyan was third with 33 points, Elmhurst was fourth with 31 points, Augustana was fifth with 28 points in the poll, Carthage received 20 points in sixth place, Millikin was seventh with 13 points and North Park was eighth with seven points. Carthage was selected as the league favorite in the preseason volleyball coaches poll with 47 points and five first-place votes, Millikin was second with 40 points and one first-place vote, Elmhurst was tabbed third, with 39 points and two first-place votes, Illinois Wesleyan and North Central each received 28 points in a tie for fourth, Wheaton was picked sixth with 18 points, Augustana tallied 17 points in seventh and North Park received seven points in eighth place.
