Wheaton's Micah Markley named CCIW Special Teams Player of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College sophomore Micah Markley has been named the CCIW's “Special Teams Player of the Week” in football for his efforts in helping lead Wheaton to a 52-7 victory against North Park University last Saturday. Wheaton is currently 6-0 on the year, with a 3-0 CCIW record, ranked 17th in this week's D3football.com Top-25 poll and ranked 12th in the American Football Coaches Association Division III Top-25. Wheaton will return to action on Saturday at 6 PM when it hosts Carthage College.
In the second quarter of Saturday's victory against North Park, Markley returned a punt 69 yards for a touchdown to give Wheaton a 52-0 lead in the contest. Markley had two punt returns in the game.
A cornerback for the Thunder, Markley has 16 total tackles this season, including eight solo stops. He has intercepted two passes on the year and has three passes defended to his credit.
