Wheaton senior Tyler Langs named CCIW Special Teams Player of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College senior Tyler Langs has been named the CCIW's “Player of the Week” on special teams in football for his efforts in helping lead Wheaton to a 51-20 victory against UW-Platteville last Saturday.

In the win against UW-Platteville last Saturday, Langs returned three punts for a total of 124 yards and one touchdown. Langs broke for a 41-yard return in the third quarter, and also had an 80-yard return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. The senior averaged 41.3 yards per return in the victory.

A three-year starter at cornerback for the Thunder, Langs has made eight total tackles this season, with four pass deflections and an interception. He has returned five punts for 151 yards this year for an average of 30.2 yards per return.

In his Thunder career Langs has made 145 total tackles, with eight interceptions for 133 return yards. He also has returned eight punts for 191 yards (23.9 YPR) in his career and five kickoffs for 118 yards (23.6).

Wheaton is currently 2-0 on the year and ranked 22nd in this week's D3football.com Top-25 poll. Wheaton will return to action on Saturday night when it travels to Olivet College for a 6 PM (EST) kickoff against the Comets.
