Alex Pokorny named the CCIW "Player of the Week" on offense

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College senior Alex Pokorny has been named the CCIW football “Player of the Week” on offense. Pokorny helped lead the Thunder to a 48-3 victory at Concordia University (Wis.) last Saturday afternoon. Wheaton, 2-0 this season, is ranked seventh in this week's D3Football.com top-25 poll.

Pokorny, a Thunder team captain this season, caught three passes at Concordia on Saturday. All three catches were for a touchdown as he racked up 140 receiving yards. He caught a 60-yard touchdown toss from Sean Norris early in the second quarter to give Wheaton a 17-0 lead and Pokorny extended the Thunder advantage to 24-0 when he hauled in a 35-yard touchdown reception. The senior's final score of the day was a 45-yard catch in the third quarter.

In his four seasons with the Thunder, Pokorny has caught 39 passes for 861 career yards – averaging 22.1 yards per catch. Among his 39 receptions, 11 have been for a touchdown.
