Pete Ittersagen named a CCIW "Player of the Week"

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton College senior Pete Ittersagen has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's (CCIW) football “Player of the Week” on special teams. Ittersagen helped lead the Thunder to a 10-7 victory against fifth-ranked Bethel University last Saturday afternoon. This week's selection marks the third time in his career that Ittersagen has been recognized as a “Player of the Week” by the league, with two recognitions as a special teams honoree and one selection as defensive player.

On Saturday Ittersagen was a key component for the Thunder as he amassed 127 total return yards in the game under very wet conditions. The All-American returned three punts for 106 yards, including a 65-yard punt return for Wheaton's lone touchdown in the victory. His 106 yards is the most in a single game by any punt returner in Division III this season. He also had a 21-yard kickoff return on the day.

His touchdown on Saturday marked the fourth time that Ittersagen returned a punt for a touchdown to set a new Wheaton career record and also tie the school career record for kickoff and punt returns for a touchdown. He has averaged 16.7 yards per punt return in his career with 717 yards on 43 returns. Ittersagen earned Second Team All-American recognition as a returner from D3Football.com in 2007. He also was named as a First Team All-American at cornerback by the website in the same year.
