Pete Ittersagen tabbed as a Preseason All-American by D3Football.com

Wheaton, Ill. – Senior Pete Ittersagen of the Wheaton Thunder football team has earned preseason All-American accolades from D3Football.com for the second consecutive year. Ittersagen has been tabbed as a First Team preseason All-American selection at cornerback by the website and also recognized as a Second Team return specialist.

As a junior in 2007, Ittersagen was honored as a First Team All-American at cornerback and a Second Team honoree in the return game on the D3Football.com postseason All-American team. He was a Second Team selection at cornerback to the website's 2007 preseason All-American team.

Ittersagen, the 2007 "Don Larson Defensive Player of the Year" selection by the CCIW, led Wheaton with 72 total tackles in 2007, including 63 solo stops. The Thunder cornerback recorded three interceptions and tallied 18 total passes broken-up. He led the CCIW and was ranked second during the Division III regular season in passes broken-up and forced two fumbles. As a punt returner last season, Ittersagen tied the school single-season record for punt returns for a touchdown with two. He had 28 returns this for 404 yards, averaging 14.4 yards per return.
