Nate Tofilon named a CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week on Special Teams

Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton junior defensive back/punter Nate Tofilon has been named a CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week in football, for his play on special teams last Saturday in a 27-20 victory at WashU. The honor is the fourth time this season that a Wheaton football player has been named a CCIW Student Athlete of the Week, and first time for a special teams player.

Tofilon made a key play on Wheaton's punt return unit as he blocked a WashU punt attempt in the second quarter that was recovered by teammate Caleb Coburn at the Bears' 33-yard line. Four plays later Wheaton scored its first touchdown of the game, heavily aided by the field position that the Thunder earned on Tofilon's punt block.

As a punter on Saturday, Tofilon averaged 40.5 yards per punt on five punt attempts, including two kicks inside the 20-yard line. Tofilon's first punt of the second half was a 40-yarder that pinned the Bears in at their own 17-yard line. His final punt of the game was a needed short 32-yard punt that put the Bears at their own 15-yard line late in the third quarter. His longest punt of the day was a 51-yard kick early in the fourth quarter.

Tofilon and the No. 23 ranked Thunder host Elmhurst University on Saturday afternoon in a noon kickoff at McCully Stadium.
