Giovanni Weeks and Max Wilson named to D3football.com Preseason All-America Team

Wheaton, Ill. – Wheaton running back Giovanni Weeks and cornerback Max Wilson have been named to the 2024 D3football.com Preseason All-America Team as announced by the website on Thursday.

Wheaton has produced 39 total D3football.com Preseason All-America selections in the 25 years that the website has produced preseason All-America squads. The selection of Weeks and Wilson marks the 13th-consecutive season that the Thunder football program has produced at least one Preseason All-America selection on the website's list. Wheaton has produced at least one preseason All-American in 18 of the 25 seasons that the website has produced its list of the top Division III players ahead of each season.

Weeks is slated to return to the Wheaton roster for a sixth season, using his COVID waiver from the 2020 season that was not played. He is a three-time All-American at running back for the Thunder, earning the awards in 2021, 2022, and 2023. He was honored as an All-American by D3football.com, Associated Press and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) in 2023.

Weeks (PICTURED LEFT) registered a school record 1,687 rushing yards last season season, a mark that ranked second in Division III He broke his own school single-season records with 25 total touchdowns and 152 points last season. Weeks ran for a career-high 256 yards in Wheaton's NCAA First Round win against Mount St. Joseph, the highest single-game rushing total in the 2023 playoffs this year and the 11th-highest single-game total in D3 last season. He owns a school record with an average of 12.4 points per game in his career to rank 11th all-time in Division III history. His school record of 422 career points is 25th all-time in D3 history, and he holds the Wheaton school record with 70 career touchdowns. Weeks is Wheaton's career rushing yardage leader with 4,397 career rushing yards and his 5,540 career all-purpose yards is also a school record.

Wilson (PICTURED RIGHT) earns a Second Team preseason All-America nod following Second Team All-Region 5 recognition from D3football.com at cornerback in 2023. He was named a 2023 First Team All-CCIW selection at cornerback to earn his second career All-Conference award. Wilson made 42 total tackles last season, including 26 solo stops. He was named the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week and earned a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week, following Wheaton's season-opening win against UW-Oshkosh where he intercepted two passes and had a TFL among his three total tackles. Last season, he made a season-high seven total tackles in Wheaton's dramatic last second victory against WashU, and recorded six total tackles and registered a pass break up at UW-Whitewater in the Second Round of the Division III Playoffs.
