Wheaton football is ranked ninth in the 2024 D3football.com Preseason Top-25 Poll

Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton football team is ranked ninth in the 2024 Division III preseason poll released by D3football.com on Wednesday morning. The Thunder earns the recognition following a 2023 season that saw the program post a 10-2 record and earn a selection to the NCAA Division III Playoffs for the 14th time in program history and the 13th time since 2002. Wheaton concluded the 2023 campaign ranked 12th in the final D3football.com Top-25 Poll of the year and 13th in the final AFCA Top-25 poll.

This marks the 17th time that the Wheaton football program has been ranked in the website's preseason top-25 since D3football.com began its preseason poll in 2004. This year's selection marks the 12th-consecutive year Wheaton has been included in the preseason poll - the current streak dates back to the 2011 poll (there was no preseason poll in 2020 and 2021).

Wheaton opens the season on September 7 at UW-Oshkosh for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff against the Titans. The Thunder host Augustana on September 21 at 6:00 p.m. in the 2024 CCIW opner for Wheaton and the is the team's home opener. Wheaton hosts North Central College on October 5 for the annual "Battle for the Little Brass Bell". The Cardinals are ranked No. 1 in the 2024 D3football.com Presason Top-25 Poll, receiving 14 of a possible 25 first-place votes.Print Friendly Version
