Max Wilson named to the D3football.com Team of the Week

Wheaton, Ill. -- Junior defensive back Max Wilson has earned his first career placement on the D3football.com Team of the Week, according to the website's release this morning. Wilson's recognition is Wheaton's 65th all-time selection to the D3football.com Team of the Week and the first since former quarterback Will Bowers received the nod on November 8th of last year.

One day after being named the CCIW Football Student-Athlete of the Week on defense, Wilson earns national recognition thanks to his performance in the Thunder's win over #19 UW-Oshkosh on Saturday. Wilson recorded two interceptions for Wheaton over the weekend, with his first takeaway stopping an Oshkosh drive midway through the second quarter and helping set up a Thunder field goal later in the period to give Wheaton a 17-9 lead. Wilson's second pick came late in the fourth quarter on a last-ditch, fourth-and-16 play by the Titans. The interception gave the Thunder the ball back with 2:42 remaining in the game, and Wheaton's offense was able to run out the clock from that point to secure a vital 30-21 victory. Wilson also recorded three tackles in the win.

The defensive standout and his teammates will head to Bloomington this Saturday for a 1 PM conference-opener against Illinois Wesleyan University.Print Friendly Version
