The CCIW releases four fall preseason coaches' polls

Wheaton, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) has released coaches' polls for four of the league's fall sports, with Wheaton being well-represented in each of these polls.

CCIW FOOTBALL POLL (Link to poll)

The Thunder football team returns in 2023 following earning an at-large spot in the 2022 NCAA Division III Playoffs. Wheaton was second in voting among the league's coaches as the Thunder earned one first-place vote. North Central tallied 81 points with nine first-place votes in first place. Wheaton was second in the voting with 71 points, WashU tallied 61 points in third place, Augustana and Illinois Wesleyan each registered 49 points in the voting for a fourth-place tie. Carroll garnered 48 points in sixth place, Carthage was seventh with 30 points, Millikin was eighth in the voting with 25 points, Elmhurst and North Park tied for ninth with 15 points.

CCIW WOMEN'S SOCCER POLL (Link to poll)

Wheaton was picked third in the CCIW Women's Soccer Poll. North Central received seven first-place votes and Illinois Wesleyan collected two first-place votes. North Central finished first in the voting with 63 points, followed by Illinois Wesleyan in second place with 56 points. Wheaton and Augustana tied for third in the poll with 41 points apiece. Carroll was fifth with 38 points, North Park collected 31 points in sixth place, Carthage tallied 24 points in seventh place, Millikin collected 22 points in eighth place, and Elmhurst finished ninth with eight points.

CCIW MEN'S SOCCER POLL (Link to poll)

Wheaton was picked to finish third in the coaches' preseason poll for men's soccer. North Park had five first-place votes and North Central received four first-place votes. North Park finished first in the poll with 61 points, North Central was two behind with 59 points in second place. Wheaton finished third in the voting with 47 points, Carthage tallied 43 points in fourth place, Carroll was fifth with 35 points, Elmhurst placed sixth with 30 points, Illinois Wesleyan finished seventh with 27 points, as Augustana and Millikin each tallied 12 points in a tie for eighth place.

CCIW VOLLEYBALL POLL (Link to poll)

CCIW head volleyball coaches picked Wheaton to finish eighth in the preseason poll. North Park picked up six first-place votes and Carthage received two first-place votes, one first-place vote for Millikin. North Park finished first in the poll with a total of 62 points, Carthage was second with 54 points and Illinois Wesleyan tallied 47 points in third place. Millikin was picked fourth in the voting with 43 points, North Central tallied 36 points in fifth place, Elmhurst was sixth with 30 points, Augustana collected 29 points in seventh place, Wheaton registered 14 points in eighth place and Carroll finished ninth with nine points.

Voting for each sport is done by that sport's respective head coaches from each school. Each coach votes for the eight other schools in the conference (nine in football) in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (eight points for first, seven for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own teams.Print Friendly Version
