Pete Ittersagen earns All-American selection at cornerback and return specialist from D3Football.com

Wheaton. Ill. – Wheaton College junior Pete Ittersagen has been selected to the 2007 D3Football.com All-America Team. Ittersagen earned two All-American nods from the website, as he was recognized as a First Team All-American at cornerback and earned a Second Team All-American selection as a return specialist.

Ittersagen was a honorable mention All-American at cornerback by D3Football.com in 2006. In August the junior was tabbed as a preseason All-American at cornerback by the website.

Ittersagen becomes the 12th player from Wheaton to be named to a postseason All-American team by D3Football.com. The Thunder has placed at least one player on seven of the website's All-American teams since it began naming postseason teams in 1999.

At the conclusion of the season, Ittersagen was recognized as the 2007 "Don Larson Defensive Player of the Year" by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) and was tabbed as a First Team All-CCIW selection at both defensive back and as a return specialist. Last week he was honored as an All-American at cornerback by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).

Ittersagen led Wheaton with 72 total tackles this year, including 63 solo stops. The Thunder cornerback recorded three interceptions and tallied 18 total passes broken-up. He led the CCIW and was ranked second during the Division III regular season in passes broken-up. He also forced two fumbles this year.

As a punt returner, Ittersagen tied the school single-season record for punt returns for a touchdown with two. He had 28 returns this for 404 yards, averaging 14.4 yards per return.
