12 members of the Thunder football team selected to the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society

Wheaton, Ill. - The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced the members of the 2022 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. There are 12 seniors from the Wheaton football team that completed their collegiate playing career, and have earned selection to the Hampshire Honor Society.

The 12 Thunder football players that earned the recognition from the NFF are: Steven Barker, Sam Bell, Brendan Bentley, Will Bowers, Kyle Carter, Derek Johanik, Caleb Kuhn, Philip LoChirco, Simeon Sechrist, McNeill Stout, Graham Wall, and Stephen Watson. All 12 players completed their Wheaton playing career with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better.

Wheaton was one of 57 schools among the 328 institutions that had honorees to have nine or more Hampshire Honor Society selections. The Thunder football program was one of just 30 Division III schools to have nine or more selected.

Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must have:

Completed their final year of playing eligibility in 2022;

Graduated players, who have remaining eligibility but will not return to collegiate play (e.g. declared for NFL Draft or retired from football), may also be nominated.

Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study;

Met all NCAA- or NAIA-mandated progress toward degree requirements; and

Been starters or significant contributors throughout the 2019 season.

There are a total of 1,745 players from a 327 schools that earned membership is the highest one-year total in the Society's 17th year. The NFF Hampshire Honor Society was launched in 2007.Print Friendly Version
