Jordan Kemper named the CCIW "Player of the Week" on special teams

Wheaton, Ill. - Wheaton senior Jordan Kemper has been selected as the CCIW's "Player of the Week" on special team for his efforts in Wheaton's 48-7 win at Elmhurst on Saturday. This week's selection marks the second time this season that a Wheaton Player has been honored as the league's "Player of the Week" on special team. The first time came on September 8 when junior Pete Ittersagen was tabbed as the CCIW “Player of the Week” on special team. The nationally-ranked Thunder will close out the home portion of its schedule on Saturday against Carthage College. Wheaton and the Red Men will have a 1 PM kickoff at McCully Stadium. Saturday's game will be broadcast online with streaming audio and video at http://www.wetn.org. Kemper made an impact on special team for the Thunder in Saturday's win at Elmhurst. The senior recorded six total tackles, including five solos, all on special teams coverage. Of Elmhurst's nine kickoff returns in the game, Kemper was involved on the tackle five times, including four solo stops on kickoff returns. He also recorded a solo tackle on the Bluejays' lone punt return of the game.

Kemper has played at tight end and been a valuable special teams contributor for the Thunder this season. He has recorded 10 total tackles, with six solos, all on special teams. As a regular on the Wheaton offense, as a tight end, Kemper has made seven catches for 169 yards, with two touchdowns. His average of 24.1 yards per catch is the highest of anyone on the team with five or more catches.
