Wheaton's Clay Wagner named a Preseason All-American by D3football.com

Wheaton, Ill. – Senior offensive lineman Clay Wagner of the Wheaton Thunder football team has been named to the 20198 D3football.com Preseason All-America Team on Thursday afternoon. Wagner's selection marks the eighth-consecutive year that Wheaton has had at least one player named to the website's preseason All-American team; and this is the 12th year overall Wheaton has had at least selection in the 20 seasons that D3football.com has had a preseason All-American team.

Wagner's selection to the D3football.com Preseason All-America team marks the sixth time in seven years that at least one Thunder offensive lineman has been named to the website's preseason All-American Team. Earlier this summer, Wagner was recognized as a preseason All-American by Lindy's College Football season preview magazine.

Wagner, a Third Team All-North Region selection by D3football.com in 2018, is a key component of the Wheaton offensive line in the upcoming season. A First Team All-CCIW performer last year, Wagner helped a Wheaton offensive unit that averaged 448.3 yards per game in 2018. Wheaton averaged 154.3 rushing yards per game and passed for 294.0 yards per game last season.

The Thunder, ranked 22nd in the D3football.com preseason Top-25 poll, open the 2019 season against Monmouth College on September 7 in a 1:00 p.m. kickoff in Galesburg, IllinoisPrint Friendly Version
