The CCIW releases four preseason coaches' polls for four fall sports

Wheaton, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) has released coaches' polls for four of the league's fall sports this week, with Wheaton being well-represented. The Thunder women's soccer team was picked first in its poll, Wheaton football was selected second, Wheaton men's soccer is third in its poll and the Thunder volleyball team was selected ninth in its respective poll.

CCIW WOMEN'S SOCCER POLL

Wheaton, the defending CCIW Champion in women's soccer was picked to finish first in the coaches' poll with 63 points and eight first-place votes. Illinois Wesleyan and Augustana tied for second with 51 points each as Illinois Wesleyan received one first-place vote. North Central garnered 45 points in fourth place, Carroll was fifth with 30 points, Carthage placed sixth in the voting with 29 points, Elmhurst was seventh with 27 points, Millikin picked up 17 points in eighth place and North Park was ninth with 10 points. CCIW FOOTBALL POLL

North Central finished atop the standings in the CCIW Coaches' Poll with 79 points, receiving seven first-place votes. Wheaton picked up 72 points in second place, with two first-place votes and Illinois Wesleyan was third with 68 points and one first-place vote. Washington University-St. Louis was fourth with 57 points, Carthage garnered 44 points in fifth place, Millikin tallied 39 points in sixth place, Augustana was seventh with 38 points, Elmhurst picked up 23 points in eighth, Carroll tallied 16 points in ninth place and North Park was 10th with 14 points. CCIW MEN'S SOCCER POLL

Wheaton was picked to finish third in the coaches' preseason poll for men's soccer. North Park received 61 points and six first-place votes as it was picked first in the men's soccer preseason poll. Carthage was tabbed to finish second with 56 points and two first-place votes, Wheaton got 54 points for third place, earning one first-place vote. Illinois Wesleyan received 39 points in fourth place, Millikin finished fifth in voting with 37 points, North Central was sixth with 32 points, Elmhurst registered 18 points in seventh place, Augustana finished eighth in the voting with 16 points and Carroll was ninth with 11 points. CCIW VOLLEYBALL POLL

Carthage was selected as the league favorite in the preseason volleyball coaches poll with 63 points and seven first-place votes. Illinois Wesleyan was second with 56 points and one first-place vote, while Millikin was tabbed third with 49 points and earned one first-place vote. Carroll finished fourth in the voting with 39 points, Augustana received 35 points in fifth place, Elmhurst was picked sixth with 27 points, Elmhurst garnered 21 points in seventh place and Wheaton tied with North Central in eighth place as each program earned 17 points. Voting for each sport is done by that sport's respective head coaches from each school. Each coach votes for the eight other schools in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (seven points for first, six for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own teams.Print Friendly Version
