The Wheaton football team earns preseason rankings from two national publications

Wheaton, Ill. – The Wheaton football team has earned recognition in a pair of national college football preseason publications. The Thunder football program is ranked ninth in the preseason magazine distributed by Street & Smith's and 22nd in the Lindy's Sports college football preseason magazine. Wheaton earns the rankings following a 2018 season in which the program posted an 8-2 record.

Senior tackle Clay Wagner was recognized as a preseason All-American by Lindy's. Wagner was a member of the Second Team unit as selected by Lindy's. Wagner, a Third Team All-North Region selection by D3football.com in 2018, is a key component of the Wheaton offensive line. Wagner helped a Wheaton offensive unti that averaged 448.3 yards per game in 2018. Wheaton averaged 154.3 rushing yards per game and passed for 294.0 yards per game last season.
