Wheaton's Tyler Sigler signs an undrafted free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals

Wheaton, Ill. - Tyler Sigler, a four-year letterwinner in the defensive backfield for the Wheaton football team, is scheduled to sign an undrafted free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals following his performance at the Cardinals' rookie minicamp last weekend. With signing the free agent contract, Sigler will be invited to participate in Arizona's preseason training camp this summer. The invitation to the Cardinals' minicamp was the second in as many weeks for Sigler who participated in the New York Giants' rookie minicamp the previous weekend.

Sigler is a two-time D3football.com All-North Region selection for the Thunder, earning Second Team All-Region honors as a senior in 2018. Last season, Sigler finished third on the Thunder defense with 50 total tackles this season, tying for the team lead with 41 solo tackles. Sigler, a First Team All-CCIW selection in 2016 and 2018, broke up three passes in his senior year with one interception and a fumble recovery.

In four season with the Thunder, Sigler recorded 141 total tackles, including 97 solo tackles. He made eight career interceptions with 21 pass deflections in his Thunder tenure.

Sigler is the fifth Wheaton player to spend time with an NFL team since 2008. In 2008 Andy Studebaker was drafted in the sixth round of the NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. In eight NFL seasons, Studebaker spent time with the Eagles (2008), Kansas City Chiefs (2008-12); Jacksonville Jaguars (2013); Indianapolis Colts (2013-14 & 2015) and Tennessee Titans (2015). Pete Ittersagen signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2009. Ittersagen spent the 2009 NFL preseason with the Jaguars and was signed as free agent by the Tennessee Titans in 2010, starting the 2010 season on the practice squad and later joining the active roster in December, 2010. In May, 2013 Wheaton graduate Jesse Peterson participated in a minicamp for the Carolina Panthers and Matt Snebold was part of the Atlanta Falcons' rookie minicamp in 2016.
